India: Four school children dead, several feared trapped after roof collapse in Rajasthan

Some 40 children, apart from teachers and staff members, were in the school building in India's Rajasthan when the roof collapsed, killing at least four children.
At least four children have been killed and dozens of others feared trapped as the roof of a school building collapsed in India's western state of Rajasthan on Friday.
The news was reported by the local Indian media newspaper, Indian Express, and television channel NDTV.

The incident occurred at the Piplodi Government School around 8:30 am local time, as per NDTV's report.
It cited officials saying around 40 children, in addition to teachers and staff members, were inside when the roof of the one-story building collapsed.
Rescue operations are currently underway. Visuals from other news agencies showed locals gathered around the debris, helping rescuers clear the debris.
In a post on X, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma commented on the "heart-wrenching" incident.
"Instructions have been given to the concerned authorities to ensure proper treatment for the injured children," he said without specifying how many injured children had been rescued so far.
